Clap your hands - *clap* *clap*
Hey, kids! 'Sup? I've been away from the intertubes a lot this weekend because I appear to have some sort of stomach MONSTER that wants to destroy me. Every time I thought about posting a status update on the Facebook or Twitter, I really thought about it for a long time. I didn't want to be that girl. The one who only posts negative or whiny info. So, I got an idea while I was trying to come up with positive content.
I'd like to institute "No Whining Wednesdays"!
On Wednesdays, I'm going to try my best to only post positive status updates, blog posts & tweets. I'm going to make it a point to focus on the good things, rather than the bad, and recognize the good things in others.
My theory is that if you don't automatically post any and every complaint that pops into your head, you're forced to be optimistic. Yeah, I realize it sounds jacked up to have to force yourself to be upbeat, but sometimes, you gotta' fake it 'til you make it, you know? It's not like I invented that cliche.
In addition to the positive updates, I'm going to also try to post a blog entry praising or highlighting the good deeds or success stories of others.
I'm sure I sound like a total Pollyanna and I have no idea how long this will last, but I hope you guys will want to play, too! It would tickle my tiny toes to know that a bunch of us (all 7 of you who read the nonsense I spew) are paying equal attention to the great things in our lives.
So, who's in? I swear if you sumbitches leave me hanging... Um, I mean - this is going to be SO MUCH FUN, right?

This is a great idea, although you're not whiny. I mean, you post updates about your brilliant sorbeto creations and all. What can be happier than that? I will do my best to put on a happy face on Wednesday.
I think it's fab!
Girl - You're so sweet to me! Mmmm, sorbeto *is* freakin' tasty!
Replica - Hiya! Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you on Wednesday!
So, you guys are in? YAY!!! Anyone else? Bueller?
Rad idea. I'm in. Sucks that my stupid job has blocked anything on blogspot so it'll have to be later in the day.
This actually goes along nicely wiht a local bar that has "No Wining Wednesdays" with a list of half price bottles of wine for happy hour.
Happy hour, indeed.
I'll give it a try, although optimism has never been one of my finer points.....
I love this idea. Maybe it will get me to post more, in general...
And don't feel too Pollyanna about it. I often feel that I complain too much, and wouldn't it be nice if I thought about the good stuff for a change? It really does make me feel better in general. (ew. talk about Pollyanna...)
YAY!!!! You can't see me, but I'm clapping my little hands in glee. True story!
Whorish Mouth - My office blocks blogger, too. It pisses me off. I can read the articles in Google Reader, but not the comments. No worries, you can play with us after work or with your facebook status.
Eyvi - Goodie! I love it when unoptimistic (shut-it, I'm making it a word) people try to be optimistic. You CAN do it!
AvB - I hope you DO post more! I love reading your writing. It always makes me smile & wonder why the hell we can't live closer to each other. And I agree about feeling better when you focus on the good occasionally. I've noticed that when I make a concerted effort to not point out the negatives, I really do feel better. Stupid psychology!
I'm actually looking forward to Wednesday now! Thanks, guys!
There's a distinction between whining and ranting/raving, right? Otherwise I'm hosed.
Facebook is blocked now, too. :(
Sean - There's a huge difference...except on Wednesdays! Actually, you seem like a pretty positive guy - I might need some tips from you.
Whorish Mouth - Damn, girl! Do you work for FUNSUCKERS, Incorporated? Geez. Hmm, ok, well you can *think* about positive stuff. The FUNSUCKERS can't take that from you...yet.
Lainey. Step one: Vent any anger via exercises like this.
Also: take amusement from simple things like the captcha word that I'm typing in for this comment.
"untslit.
Seems that blogger's feeling a bit saucy this morning!
Haaaa, blogger is a filthy whore!
